This is a substantial revision of the 1985 Code of practice for swimming pools. The revision covers the essentials of design and construction of public, institutional, and private freshwater and seawater swimming pools, and the provision of water treatment facilities. It provides guidance on the suitable minimum requirements to set when contracting for design and construction of swimming pools or when contemplating the purchase of a pool, and guidelines for the requirements that should be met to achieve safety and good operational management. It does not cover the provision of heating or other special equipment, operation and maintenance, nor the supervision necessary to ensure the physical safety of pool users.
